Pregnancy Reflexology

Pregnancy Reflexology

Alanna has been trained specifically in Pregnancy Reflexology to treat clients at anytime during their pregnancy, including the first trimester. If you have a history of unstable pregnancy or miscarriage, then it is sometimes advisable not to have reflexology unless with a trained reflexology.  Alanna is fully trained in Pregnancy Reflexology, and is happy to discuss pregnancy reflexology with you and will always check for any contraindications before commencing treatment.

Alanna spends most of her time at Naturally Heaven Therapy, Benton

It is also a great way to relax before the birth of your baby, to take some time for yourself in preparation for the challenge ahead.

Waiting for the arrival of your baby can be a stressful time, especially as the last few weeks can be quite uncomfortable. If you have passed your due date it can be possible to trigger the onset of labour by stimulating certain reflex points.

The treatment to encourage the start of labour is quite different to a typical reflexology session. It is stimulating, energising and parts can be uncomfortable. Although reflexology with an experienced and properly trained practitioner is safe to have throughout pregnancy, it is important to be overly cautious when encouraging labour. For that reason it is recommended that you check that your midwife is happy for you to have reflexology if you are having the treatment prior to your due date, if you have been under consultant led care or have had any complications in your pregnancy.

Please note that reflexology is not a replacement to orthodox maternity care and if you have any concerns about your pregnancy or are suffering from post-natal problems please seek the advice of your GP/midwife before having reflexology.
